Trifecta of mishaps

Starting out wild camping adventure did not bode well.

First, Lisa was driving and a bird smashed into the windscreen and lodging itself between the cab and storage box. Bad omen.

Second we were camping out on the vernau pan. Just us and miles of pan. Having sundowns under the awning we were enjoying the 10mph breeze. Suddenly, there’s a tornado (bit of an exaggeration but still coming at 50+mph. I yell at Lisa to get against the vehicle. Pelted with sand and rock, the chairs and drinks flying it finally passes after consuming our G&T. Hmmm, something wrong with the awning. After not being able to put it back in the canvas sleeve we lash it to the vehicle and go to bed. The morning attempt for repair was unsuccessful.

Lastly, as approaching Tanka NP some thumping on the passenger side reveals a badly damaged tire. Fortunately, a man as big as a water buffalo and his sons stop to help. They were fantastic. Lisa is so elated she didn’t have to pull the 100# tire off the back she passes out drinks, beers, and 100 rand notes like it’s Christmas and just won the lottery.

Next Catholic Church we are stopping for an exorcism.

Is it supposed to be bent?

Tried a sidewall patch kit without success
